Platero and I: an Andalusian Elegy (Platero y yo: elegía andaluza)
I like this book because it shows the sweet relationship between one lively donkey and his owner (which is the author, Juan Ramón Jiménez). I have read this book three times, and the more I read it, the more I enjoy myself. It's wonderful how the author describes all the adventures and the feelings that he has with his little donkey, in a small Andalusian village.
It's a book full of tenderness. It was one of my childhood's books and it teaches love for animals, which sometimes becomes much more than the one we can feel for another person as they give strong support to our loneliness. It is a great book to start a child in the love of reading.
