Following the announcement, Peter Englund, Permanent Secretary of the Swedish Academy, was interviewed by freelance journalist Sven Hugo Persson about the 2012 Nobel Prize in Literature to Mo Yan. Peter Englund gave a short introduction to Mo Yan's life and work from his humble beginnings in the fields to his writing debut in 1981. Themes of peasantry, life in the countryside and ordinary people struggling to survive characterise Mo Yan as a skillful narrator. Credits: 4-cast Television (production)
