Starting this year Nobel Media will cooperate with the Swedish television channel TV4 on the broadcasts from the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony and the Nobel Banquet on 10th December. The agreement means that TV4 will produce and, in Sweden , broadcast live from the Nobel events.
"We are very happy about this new collaboration and are eagerly anticipating the benefits it will bring, for example in the form of revitalization of the programs," says Camilla Hyltén-Cavallius, CEO of Nobel Media.
One example is that TV4 plans to devote the whole day 10th December
to coverage of the Nobel Prize events, starting in the morning.
After that the Nobel Peace Prize Award Ceremony will be broadcast
direct from Oslo , and then the Nobel Prize Award Ceremony from
Stockholm in the afternoon. As usual there will be complete live
coverage of the whole evening, broadcast from the Nobel Banquet
in the Stockholm City Hall .
Both the award ceremonies and the banquet will be broadcast in their entirety and without commercial breaks. Instead, Nobel Media and TV4 will together identify suitable cooperation partners to be connected with the broadcasts.
"Together with TV4 we hope to able to open routes for new sponsor collaboration in a similar way to how we have long worked with the broadcasts internationally," says Camilla Hyltén-Cavallius.
The agreement applies to the broadcasts 2007-2009. TV4 receives broadcasting rights to the prize award ceremonies and banquet broadcasts and is responsible for the production costs for the programs. Nobel Media acquires all rights to the Nobel-related material that TV4 produces.
