The Queen's Gowns

Collage-copyright Nobel Web AB 2006

Her Majesty Queen Silvia of Sweden first attended a Nobel Prize Award Ceremony in 1976, the year she married His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. Dressed in fabulous gowns, the Queen lends a dash of colour to the otherwise sombre stage at the Stockholm City Hall, often dominated by male participants in their white tie and tails.

Have a look at the Swedish Queen's gowns from photos taken at the exhibition "Our Queen – Dressed for the Nobel Banquet". The exhibition showed dresses worn at the Nobel Banquets 1976-2005.
