Virtual Tours
The Nobel Banquet is held in the Blue Hall at the Stockholm City Hall on December 10 every year. It is one of Sweden's foremost buildings in the National Romantic style built between 1911-1923. The architect Ragnar Östberg was inspired by the palaces of the Renaissance and had the City Hall built around two squares or "piazzas," Borgargården and the Blue Hall.
The Prize Award Ceremony takes place here on December 10 every year. The bright blue building in the very center of Stockholm was inaugurated in 1926. The creator, Ivar Tengbom, built the Concert Hall inspired by the design of the ancient temples in classical Greece. With the Hall in the form of a courtyard and surrounded by porticos, his aim was to "raise a musical temple not far from the Arctic Circle." The result was one of Scandinavia's foremost examples of the neoclassical trends current in art and architecture in the 1920s.
