Prize Announcement

Announcement of the Nobel Prize in Chemistry by Professor Gunnar Öquist, Secretary General of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, 8 October 2008. Introduction by Professor Gunnar von Heijne followed by a presentation on the prize-awarded work by Professor Måns Ehrenberg, and a telephone press conference with Nobel Laureate Roger Y. Tsien.

Following the announcement, Professor Lars Thelander told senior editor Simon Frantz how a glowing protein discovered in jellyfish has allowed scientists to view and understand the inner workings of cells.
