Johannes V. Jensen was nominated 18 times before he was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1944. Angel Guimerà y Jorge was nominated 17 times, but was never awarded the Prize. Thomas Mann, who was awarded the Nobel Prize in Litterature in 1929, was nominated for a second Prize in 1948. In 1905 the Swedish Academy was mislead when G. Sweven was nominated by J.M. Brown. It was later noted that Godfrey Sweven was the pen-name of John Macmillan Brown. This type of information, and much more, is available in the Nomination Database spanning the years 1901-1950.
