3. In the cell body of the neuron, PrP^Sc encounters normal PrP^c-proteins and triggers their conversion into new PrP^Sc. In other words, the harmful PrP^Sc when interacting with the innocuos PrP^c will force the normal PrP^c-molecules to adopt the shape of PrP^Sc in a chain reaction-like process.
