1936 Morris Hull Hull was nominated for his efforts to improve relations between the USA and Latin America. He initiated the Montevideo Pan-American Conference in 1933 that ratified the principle of non-intervention in other nations' internal affairs. Hull conducted a liberal foreign policy that led to the Philippine Independence Act, the Treaty of Cuba and an act to amend the Tariff Act of 1930. He supported the League of Nations' policy during the Italian-Ethiopian conflict in 1935. Show »
