Motivation: Politis promoted peace, disarmament and international law through his scientific authorship. He became Greek Foreign Minister in 1916, he attended the Paris Peace Conference in 1919. He represented Greece in the League of Nations, where he contributed to the drafting of the Geneva Protocol in 1924. The nominator emphasized the fact that no Greek had ever before received the Nobel Peace Prize.
