Interview with the 2001 Nobel Laureate in Physics Wolfgang Ketterle, 20 March 2009. The interviewer is Adam Smith, Editor-in-Chief of Nobelprize.org.

Wolfgang Ketterle describes his scientific beginnings as a student, his graduate research in molecular spectroscopy, his transition from fundamental to applied research and, finally, a third post doc position at MIT (8:53), working with his advisor and mentor Dave Pritchard (30:41), the research that led to the discovery of Bose-Einstein condensation (46:14), how he defines an ideal student (58:38) and the future directions of his current research (1:01:59).
