Kaare Sandegren got his M.A. in 1953
after having studied at the University of Oregon and
Fletcher School of Law (both in the USA). In 1956 he
finished further studies in Norway and from 1957 trained as
a diplomat in the Norwegian Department of Foreign Affairs.
He worked at the Norwegian delegation to NATO in 1959 and
was Norway's Chargés d'Affaires in Bangkok in
1963-1964. From 1969 he held a leading position at the
ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 1974 Kaare Sandegren was
Secretary of International Affairs in the Norwegian
Federation of Trade Unions. He was not elected a full
member of the Norwegian Nobel Committee, but served as an
alternate member in 1990 and 1994. |
