Motivation: Förster was nominated for his significant contribution to the German peace movement in the period between the two world wars. Förster promoted ethics, peace and international arbitration. He worked to improve the relations between France and Germany. Förster represented the pedagogic school of the peace movement. He was not motivated by political sentiments, but by his religious understanding and perception of ethics. He was a proponent of anti-militarism.
