A comprehensive course for critical thinking developed by Nobel Prize laureate Saul Perlmutter and colleagues.
What if we could think through problems together, more thoughtfully and constructively? This would reduce the impulse to believe misleading or incorrect information and help us make better decisions. What if we could teach the skills scientists use to do just that?
After five years development, in October 2026, Nobel physics laureate Saul Perlmutter and colleagues have launched a new and unique scientific thinking course for high-school students, Scientific Thinking For All: A Toolkit. The project is a collaboration between Nobel Prize Outreach and the University of California, Berkeley.
The course teaches 28 concepts that are the foundation of effective critical and scientific thinking skills.
“Our idea is that scientific thinking is an extremely powerful tool, but it is often only taught to scientists. We think this tool should be taught to everyone,” says Saul Perlmutter.
