The Nobel Week 2019 in Stockholm – information for media

The events during the Nobel Week in Stockholm are organized by the Nobel Foundation, Nobel Prize Museum, Nobel Media and the prize awarding institutions: The Swedish Academy, the Nobel Assembly at Karolinska Institutet and the Royal Swedish Academy of sciences.

This means that there are several different institutions to contact for the various events. Please note that there is no general accreditation valid for the entire week, each organizer must be contacted separately.

Media is welcome to cover the various events of the 2019 Nobel Week. This information aims to give an overview of the programme which will include press conferences, lectures and other events.

Thursday 5 December

Public lectures, no registration or media accreditation needed. Limited number of spaces for TV teams.
A copyright agreement with Nobel Media is needed to film and broadcast the Nobel Lectures. Please contact media@nobelprize.org. The completed and signed agreement must be returned to Nobel Media on 2 December at the latest.

Print journalists

The Nobel Foundation provides 12 seats at the Nobel Prize award ceremony and the Nobel Banquet for foreign print journalists and 7 seats for domestic print journalists. An application for participation is no guarantee of actually obtaining a ticket. Notification of ticket allocation will be made in late November. The Nobel Banquet fee is SEK 3000. Detailed information will be sent to journalists who have been granted access to any of the events.

Pool photographers

A maximum of 10 still photographers from international and Swedish photo agencies will be allowed in the photo pool at the Nobel Prize award ceremony and the Nobel Banquet, respectively. Accreditations to the participants in the photo pool will be handed out on 10 December by representatives from the Nobel Foundation.

Live feeds, news edits and on-site broadcast services

Broadcasters interested in live feeds or news edits from both these events, please contact the rights holder Nobel Media at media@nobelprize.org

The Swedish Public Television, SVT, is providing broadcast services (stand-up positions etc.) at the event locations on 10 December. Please note these positions are not available during the live events themselves. The stand-up positions are offered before the events themselves. Dress Code

Dress code for both the Nobel Prize award ceremony and the Nobel Banquet: Gentlemen are required to wear white tie and tails, and long evening gown for ladies.

Dress code for pool photographers is dark suit/long dress or dark two-piece suit at both events.

Hotel Reservations

Kindly note that it is often difficult to find hotel rooms in Stockholm at this time. You are, therefore, advised to make your own booking as soon as possible.
