Earle, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, MD, US, was nominated for the successful transformation in vitro of normal mammalian cells into cancer cells. Dr E.W. Goodpasture, University of Tennessee, Nashville, TN, US, was nominated for his work on the cultivation of viruses on the chorio-allantoic membrane of the developing chick. Nominator was William T.
