Motivation:The Peace Bureau organized peace conferences, and it collected and published peace literature. It advocated peace, pacifism and international law. The nominator asserted that although the Bureau had not prevented World War II, it had infatiguably continued its work to create the conditions for peace, since it was awarded the peace prize in 1910. Moreover, the Bureau was in a difficult financial position and needed the prize in order to continue its activities.
