The Nobel Banquet 2007

The banquet starts inside the Stockholm City Hall in Sweden, where the Royal Family and other guests of honour make the entry procession into the Blue Hall to the ‘Fahlcrantz March’. Champagne is served, and a toast to His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden is made (7:19), followed by a toast to Alfred Nobel (8:40). The entertainment during the evening, ‘In Honour of Astrid Lindgren: The World of Pippi Longstocking’, is performed by the Royal Swedish Ballet of the Royal Swedish Opera – the first number is called ‘Villa Villekulla’ (11:30). The first course is served (16:35). The divertissement continues, with ‘Sweet dreams’ (19:37) and ‘Coffee party’ (23:59). Banquet speeches are given by the 2007 Laureates: Oliver Smithies, Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine (28:03), Gerhard Ertl, Nobel Laureate in Chemistry (32:39), Albert Fert, Nobel Laureate in Physics (36:15), and Eric S. Maskin, Economics Laureate (41:48). The guests from the table of honour then leave the Blue Hall in procession (46:44). The after dinner dancing takes place in the Golden Hall (47:56).
