María Isabel González Vasco currently holds a Chair of Excellence in the Department of Mathematics at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. With over twenty years of experience in mathematical cryptography, she has collaborated with national and international institutions such as Philips Crypto B.V., the IAKS Institute in Karlsruhe, Florida Atlantic University, and the IMDEA Software Institute. Her research focuses on provable security for both classical and post-quantum cryptographic tools. In this field, she is the author or co-author of more than 60 scientific publications, including four presented at top-tier international conferences and 31 articles published in journals indexed in the Journal Citation Reports (JCR), six of which are ranked in the first quartile. She is also co-inventor of two patents. Some of her recent work explores verification techniques aimed at enhancing the security of artificial intelligence systems.
She is currently the principal investigator of the Spanish node of the project Secure Communication via Classical and Quantum Technologies, funded by NATO’s Science for Peace and Security Programme. Since 2017, she has served on the board of the Spanish Royal Mathematical Society (RSME), where she currently holds the position of vice president. Also, she is co-director of the NATO SPS project Secure Communication via Classical and Quantum Technologies and general co-chair of IACR Eurocrypt 2025.
