Motivation: | Briand was nominated for his plan to create a European Union. The plan was first presented in the League of Nations in 1929, and in 1930 the French government put forth a memorandum on the issue. The League then decided to establish a study commission on the subject with Briand as its chairman. Munch was nominated for his long-standing and energetic advocacy of international disarmament, both as a Danish statesman and as a member of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the Permanent International Peace Bureau. |
