Motivation:Wavrinsky was nominated for his contribution to the peaceful dissolution of the Swedish-Norwegian Union in 1905. He was chairman of the Swedish Peace and Arbitration League. Arnaud promoted international law, arbitration and pacifism both in France and in the international peace movement. President of "Ligue de la Paix et de la Liberté" and editor-in-chief of the journal "Les Etats Unis d'Europe" from 1891. Vice-president of the French delegation to several international peace conferences initiated by the International Peace Bureau.
