100 students get to experience the Nobel Prize award ceremony on 10 December
One hundred secondary school students and teachers are now for the first time invited to the Nobel Prize award ceremony in Konserthuset Stockholm to see when the laureates are awarded their medals and diplomas.
“We want young people to feel that science and knowledge are things that concern them. Experiencing the Nobel Prize award ceremony on site represents a way of triggering that curiosity. The Nobel Prize is about recognising efforts that make the world a better place. By inviting young people, we want to show that the future is in their hands”, says Hanna Stjärne, Executive Director of the Nobel Foundation.
The students come from schools in the City of Stockholm and from municipalities such as Botkyrka, Enköping, Eskilstuna, Huddinge, Järfälla, Norrtälje, Nyköping, Nynäshamn, Sollentuna, Strängnäs, Södertälje, Uppsala and Värmdö. Around five students and one teacher participate from each school.
Several collaborations are carried out with schools during Nobel Week to enable students and teachers to meet this year’s laureates in the form of visits to both primary and secondary schools. Here, students will have the opportunity to listen to short lectures and present their own questions to the laureates. Students will also have the opportunity to present their own projects related to this year’s Nobel Prizes.
