Silvia Maria Fonseca Silveira Massruhá
Silvia Massruhá assumed the Presidency of Embrapa in May 2023. Among her areas of knowledge are the development of technologies for complex systems and interdisciplinary solutions for the future.
Silvia Massruhá graduated in systems analysis from the Pontifical Catholic University of Campinas (1988), she received her master’s degree in automation from the Faculty of Electrical and Computer Engineering (1996) at the State University of Campinas (Unicamp) and her PhD in applied computing from the National Institute for Space Research (2003), Brazil.
Massruhá has been a researcher at Embrapa since 1989 and she was the general head of Embrapa Digital Agriculture, from 2015 to 2022. It was during her office that the strategic realignment of the center took place, to better reflect its multidisciplinary and transversal role. From 2009 to 2015, she served as head of research and development at that same center.
Among Massruhá’s areas of knowledge is the development of technologies for complex systems or interdisciplinary solutions for the future, which materialises in the use of tools such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT).
She assumed the Presidency of Embrapa in May 2023.
