On 25 April 2022, Emmanuelle Charpentier spoke with students and scientists at the University of Sharjah, UAE. In an open session, she gave a lecture about her journey towards the 2020 Nobel Prize in Chemistry and her discovery of CRISPR-Cas genome engineering technology. She then took questions from the live audience at the University of Sharjah and from viewers of the livestream. Next she participated in a closed discussion with selected early-career scientists, where she answered their questions on topics ranging from maintaining passion to what makes an excellent scientist.
