The Nobel Peace Prize 1952
The Nobel Peace Prize 1952 was awarded to Albert Schweitzer "for his altruism, reverence for life, and tireless humanitarian work which has helped making the idea of brotherhood between men and nations a living one"Albert Schweitzer received his Nobel Prize one year later, in 1953. During the selection process in 1952, the Norwegian Nobel Committee decided that none of the year's nominations met the criteria as outlined in the will of Alfred Nobel. According to the Nobel Foundation's statutes, the Nobel Prize can in such a case be reserved until the following year, and this statute was then applied. Albert Schweitzer therefore received his Nobel Prize for 1952 one year later, in 1953.
