Brigitte Baptiste is a biologist and public intellectual. Since 2019 she has served as Chancellor of Universidad Ean, Colombia.

Brigitte Baptiste is a biologist and an inspiring public intellectual. Since 2019, Baptiste has served as Chancellor of Universidad Ean, Colombia. From January 2011 to August 2019, she served as General Director of Alexander von Humboldt Institute for Research on Biological Resources, Colombia. She is also on faculty at the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá D.C., Colombia.

Baptiste studied at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona (Bellaterra, Spain) with additional graduate studies in environmental sciences.  She was a Fulbright Scholar at the Center for Latin American Studies Tropical Conservation and Development Studies, University of Florida, Gainesville, USA, receiving a Master of Arts in Latin American Studies.

A charismatic speaker and highly visible transgender woman and LGBTQI activist, Baptiste has raised awareness that cultural diversity is part of nature’s diversity.
